Documents to Get Before Leaving Vietnam
Start gathering these at least 8–12 weeks before your planned departure date.
Get an apostille for your nursing diploma from the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training
Obtain a police clearance certificate (Giấy chứng nhận không phạm tội) from the local police station
Get a credential certificate (Giấy chứng nhận về trình độ chuyên môn) from the Vietnam Ministry of Health
Get a health certificate (Giấy chứng nhận về sức khỏe) from a Vietnam hospital
If applicable, obtain an apostilled marriage certificate (Giấy đăng ký kết hôn) issued by the district People's Committee; apostille is via the Ministry of Justice (Bộ Tư pháp) in Hanoi — allow 5–7 working days.

Transfer your BHXH social insurance contributions to Germany
Apply for a tax clearance certificate (Giấy xác nhận đã nộp thuế) from the Vietnam Tax Authority
Keep your MST tax code active for future reference
Vietnam's BHXH (social insurance) pension is not transferable to Germany; instead, apply for a lump-sum BHXH withdrawal (hưởng BHXH một lần) at your local BHXH district office before departure — you receive all employer and employee contributions plus interest, minus a 10% personal income tax.
What to Close or Keep in Vietnam
Close your BHYT health insurance account in Vietnam
Keep your driving license valid for up to 6 months after departure
Keep a Vietcombank or Techcombank account open in VND for receiving any remaining Vietnamese income (e.g. rental income, BHXH refunds); set up online banking (Internet Banking) before departure so you can manage it remotely.
Do not close your work permit account until it is officially cancelled
